Privacy
Short version: no accounts, no analytics scripts, no advertising cookies, and no personal data sold.

What we collect
- Server logs. Like any website, requests reach our host (Cloudflare), which processes IP addresses to serve and protect the site.
- Click counts. When an affiliate link is used we record the offer name, the page slug and a timestamp. No IP address, no cookie, no identifier that links a click to a person.
- Search box. Filtering happens in your browser against a static index file. What you type is not sent to us.
- Repair prices you report. If you volunteer what you paid on the calculator, we store the failure item, a whole number of pounds and a timestamp. No name, email, registration or IP address, and only the median across reports is ever published. See the method.
- Email signups. If you tick the box on the Keep me posted form, we store the address, what you signed up about, when, and which page you were on. Consent is required before we store anything, the list lives only in our database and is exported by us — never sold, never given to a partner. It is a double opt-in: nothing is sent to you until you click the confirmation link in the one email that follows, and every later email carries a one-click unsubscribe. How the list works.
- Photographed fail sheets. If you use “Calculate my fail sheet”, the photo is sent once to Cloudflare Workers AI to be turned into text and then not stored — not by us and not as a file we can look at later. The text is matched against our price list inside your browser, so nothing else leaves. Pasting the text instead of photographing it sends nothing at all; the matching runs locally either way.
- Registration plates. If a history-check form is enabled, the registration you enter goes directly to that partner's site in the URL. We do not receive or store it.
Cookies and analytics
This build sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts, fonts, pixels or analytics. There is nothing to consent to because nothing is tracking you here.
Following an affiliate link takes you to a partner site with its own cookies and privacy policy. Those are theirs, not ours.
Data we display
Vehicle data is anonymised MOT test data published by the DVSA under the Open Government Licence. It contains no names, addresses, registration numbers or vehicle identifiers.
Your rights and contact
Because we do not hold personal data, there is normally nothing to access or erase. If you believe we do hold something about you, write to hello@motfaults.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.
