Motorhomes with the worst MOT pass rates

Coachbuilts and campervans ranked on 10 named models with at least 1,000 tests. These are low-mileage vehicles, so the percentages run high — the comparison that matters is between converters, not against cars. Data: DVSA anonymised MOT test data, 2023–2025.

What is ranked here, and what is not

Coachbuilt converters (Auto-Trail, Hymer, Chausson, Dethleffs, Rapido, Bailey, Knaus, Burstner…) and campervans sold under a car marque, such as the Volkswagen California. A motorhome is tested on the same class-4 MOT as a car, but on a commercial van chassis — Fiat Ducato, Ford Transit, Peugeot Boxer — so mechanical failures often trace back to the base vehicle.

Records that name no converter — the DVSA extract files around 670,000 tests simply as "motorhome" under a car make — are not ranked. They are still counted on the make hubs and in the methodology totals, but a row called "Suzuki Motorhome" is a filing artefact, not a manufacturer, and ranking it against Auto-Trail would be misleading.

The strongest converters are on the best motorhomes page. Other segments: worst cars, worst vans, worst people carriers.
