People carriers with the worst MOT pass rates

Passenger versions of commercial vans — Tourneo, Caravelle, Multivan, Viano, SpaceTourer, Berlingo Multispace — ranked on 9 models with at least 2,000 tests each. They are MOT-tested as cars, but ranking them against hatchbacks would flatter nobody. Data: DVSA anonymised MOT test data, 2023–2025.

What counts as a people carrier here

A van converted to carry people: Ford Tourneo in all its sizes, Volkswagen Caravelle and Multivan, Mercedes-Benz Viano, Citroën SpaceTourer and Berlingo Multispace, Peugeot Traveller. The line is drawn at the vehicle, not the badge — an MPV people buy as a car (Zafira, Galaxy, C4 Picasso, Toyota Verso) is ranked with the cars, and the panel van it is derived from (Transit, Transporter, Berlingo) is ranked with the vans.

Rankings exclude vans and motorhomes by the same rule the car leaderboard uses, and the best performers live on the best people carriers page, and the vans those conversions start from have their own van ranking. How the sample thresholds and pass rates are calculated: methodology.
